The third round of the RBC Canadian Open was a logjam.
Alton, Ontario – The RBC Canadian Open being held at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley has been nothing short of spectacular. Yes, renowned Canadian golf course architect Doug Carrick’s design looks stunning on the television. As stunning as the design is the layout has provided some terrific theatre.
Moving Day on Saturday saw a cluster on the leaderboard. Cameron Champ held the lead going into today’s action. However, a sluggish start allowed a cornucopia of others to enter the fray. Among those in contention are Matteo Manassero from Italy, a 5-time winner on the DP World Tour. Ryan Fox from New Zealand is the other co-leader. Fox was a winner this season at the Myrtle Beach Classic.

When the dust settled, no less than 22 players within 4 shots or less of the lead. Among them are a couple of “Canucks”. Mackenzie Hughes who hails from nearby Hamilton, Ontario leads the Canadian contingent. Hughes sits two strokes back at -12. Richmond Hill, Ontario’s Taylor Pendrith, Adam Hadwin (Abbotsford, British Columbia), and 2023 RBC Canadian Open champion Nick Taylor (Abbotsford, British Columbia) all head into Sunday four shots back.
At one point during third round action no less than eleven golfers were tied for the lead.
