For many golfers in the universe, this is the week that they look ahead to the most. It’s “Masters Week.” For golfers who live in the northern climes, it’s a time of the year to rejoice. It’s the unofficial beginning of that year’s golf season.
When we look at the venue that hosts The Masters (Augusta National Golf Club or ANGC), many things come to mind. Many thoughts emerge. While I haven’t been on the grounds at Augusta National Golf Club, many things come to mind. I wonder what it smells like. I want to hear the roars through the towering pines. I am curious about what the cheese and pimento sandwiches taste like. Even the turf. What does it feel like? Of course, I imagine what it feels like to visually see the view down “Magnolia Lane.”
The Masters and its venue is an event that can captivate all of your senses. It’s a piece of this planet where it’s groomed to perfection and the colors explode. The pinks of the azaleas, the yellow dogwood, and the flowering peach, just to name a few. The contrast of the Georgia blue sky is striking. It highlights the rich green perennial ryegrass. The reddish-brown hues of the pine straw add depth, all combining to resemble an artist’s palette.
Speaking of colours, it’s that time of the year where anyone who golfs wears the official colors of The Masters. Green and yellow, the official colours of everything that relates to this two-week-long celebration. A few years ago, the Board of Directors of ANGC decided to host the final round of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Therefore, the celebration lasts two weeks.

You may not know this and if you don’t please allow me to enlighten you. If you find yourself on a game show that asks about the real name for “Masters Green” you can answer confidently that it is officially called “Pantone colour 342”.
Golf equipment and apparel manufacturers go bonkers at this time of the year. There are many “Limited Edition” runs on everything from golf bags to golf grips and everything in between. Each equipment manufacturer designs a commemorative bag for their tour staff. Yet, none may have the meaning of Tour Edge Golf‘s golf bag for the timeless wonder and legend, Bernhard Langer. Masters Green and yellow is everywhere this week. Therein lies the question. As a golfer do you wear green and yellow outside of Masters Week? For example, say you’re playing a round of golf in July. Is an outfit highlighting these colours in your golf apparel scripting rotation?
If you look in my closet, you will see it is organized by colors of the spectrum. It ranges from white on the right to black on the opposite end. Among all of this apparel you will find limited green and yellow apparel. Basically, it all consists of these items…
- One Arnold Palmer 1/4″ zip. Pantone colour 342
- One “non-Masters Green” Under Armour polo.
- One yellow belt from the now defunct brand “Social Era”
- One green belt from the same brand
- One pair of green and yellow 2UNDER Swing Shift boxers (albeit worn and a little holey)
- A “Members Only” Collection box from True Linkswear with Masters-themed products like shoes, a towel, and a headcover
- One “Cheese and Pimento Invitational” t-shirt made by “Next Tee Lifestyle” (me).
That’s it!

So, here’s the burning question. Do you wear this colour combination outside of Masters Week? Or am I the only that doesn’t because it feels… “Taboo“? It’s not like I haven’t worn these colours outside of Masters Week, because I have. After all, the baseball team that I played with for nearly a decade wore these colours. Think Oakland err Sacramento, errrr Las Vegas A’s from Major League Baseball. But then, my baseball career ended and my golf career took over. I changed. Am I demented for thinking this way? Am I alone?
Then again, I won’t wear or own any items with the logo of a golf course. I only wear them if I have been there or played. This mentality is the same reason why I don’t own any Masters-themed items. Until I’ve been there I can’t do it. My mindset is that I’d feel like a poser. I don’t want to feel like a poser.
One day though… One day!
Until The Next Tee!!
